Register in Advance and invite others, for the Empower Hours followed by Tanya’s Weekly News Update, every Wednesday at 4:30pm PST/7:30pm EST
January 8, 2025: Are you concerned about how to budget for the future and want to live debt free? You will gain valuable insights for your new year by watching this Empower Hour with Tanner Hnidey, economist, speaker and author, who provides suggestions and potential solutions to your concerns regarding the economy, and how to make ends meet. Tanner talks about living within your means – something that is no longer taught in school and you certainly won’t hear about in the mainstream media or commercials.
In fact, the marketing messaging for many years has been “no cash, no problem” just “swipe now, brag later”. The messaging is reckless as it is creating a self-centred, you deserve the best today, mentality! Go out for dinner, buy that new car, that shiny boat or go on your dream vacation. Don’t worry about settling into a job, you should first travel the world. Forget planning for the future and saving every penny to buy a home. Nope, you just go buy that $6 Caramel Macchiato five times a week and get your nails done or go golfing.
For many Millennials, this messaging appears to make sense as owning a home or having a family seems completely out of reach in this depressing economy.
There are hundreds of marketing tag lines encouraging people to use credit. Such as:
- Shop now pay later.
- No need to wait. Free shipping if you buy it now.
- Exclusive offers for members only! Join now and benefit.
- Swipe with confidence! etc.
The plan of course is to convince people to accumulate debt knowing that many will not be able to pay it off by the end of the month. The credit card companies then get a payoff through the obscene interest rates charged.
It really is time to get back to basics and some good old fashioned ways of thinking. You can only spend it once so if you don’t have it, don’t spend it. It worked for ma and pa and it can work for you today! Be sure to register in advance for this informative Empower Hour!
Making Informed Decisions Regarding Your Finances
Previously Tanner joined Tanya on the Empower Hour to provide a presentation on finances from a biblical perspective. Rather than putting your trust in men or banks, Tanner offered a different point of view to help you make informed decisions regarding your finances and your faith, moving forward.
During this time of financial uncertainty, a lack of trust in our banking system can be very concerning. It’s important that Canadians take steps to protect their assets and prepare for whatever is coming. For information on possible options that may be right for you, visit Action4Canada’s page on purchasing precious metals. There are two Empower Hour interviews with Steve Merrill at the top of the page as well to help educate and assist you. Action4Canada does not provide financial advice. The information is meant for educational purposes only.
