Hon. Peckford has taken a courageous and public stand against the government’s assault on Canadian democracy, their flagrant violation of the Charter of Rights and Freedoms and Trudeau’s attempt to abolish the Charter all together. Hon Peckford is in a unique position to rise in defense of the Charter since he is the only living signatory and was involved in its creation.

Hon. Peckford recently filed a lawsuit in the federal Court seeking to strike down the federal government’s mandatory Covid-19 vaccine requirements for air travelers.

More about our guest:

In March of 1979, Mr. Peckford became the third Premier of Newfoundland. As the youngest first minister in Newfoundland history, his list of accomplishments is impressive: negotiated the first Atlantic Accord with Ottawa; Hibernia oil field development; new provincial flag; expansion of high school to grade 12; construction of the Trans-Labrador Highway; creation of the Department of Environment, to name just a few.

In 1982, Mr. Peckford was involved in the Constitutional Patriation Process, the political procedure that led to full Canadian sovereignty, culminating with the Constitution Act which was signed by Queen Elizabeth.

The Charter of Rights became a part of the Constitution providing guaranteed rights and freedoms for Canadian citizens and was incorporated into the Supreme Law of the land. These rights and freedoms include freedom of conscience, religion, thought, belief, expression, the press, peaceful assembly, association, mobility rights, and the right to life, liberty and security of the person.

Described as ‘bold and tenacious’, Mr. Peckford was popular with voters as he stood up for them, but was in frequent conflict with multinationals and the federal government.

Be sure to join us as Hon. Peckford shares his concerns about the government’s tyrannical and oppressive orders, and learn about the actions being taken to defend the Charter of Rights and Freedoms.

Remember: Freedom of speech, thought, belief and the right to life, liberty and security of the person are guaranteed. We do not need to beg, barter or ask for them…they are ours for the taking.
