4:30pm PST – A4C Orientation; 4:45pm PST – Tanya’s update; 5pm PST/8pm EST – Empower Hour guest segment.

Dr. Kelli Palfy, Registered Psychologist and Trained Trauma Therapist, joined Tanya Gaw to discuss the hidden epidemic of sexually abused males. Dr. Palfy is also retired from the RCMP, the author of 4 books on this topic and has created a six-part video series, available in the Rumble video below.

Are you aware that statistics say 1 out of every 6 males is sexually assaulted prior to the age of 16, but that number could be much higher than we realize? Why? Tragically, many boys and men keep their abuse a secret due to shame and fear. Although it may be difficult to address this issue, and potentially triggering, it is necessary to discuss this topic in order to protect children from being victims of sexual abuse.

Dr. Palfy first became familiar with males as victims of sexual abuse when she worked with the Child Exploitation Unit of the RCMP in the early 2000s. She has since made it her goal to become an advocate for boys, young men and adult men who are too ashamed to speak up about the abuse they’ve experienced and thus suffer the consequences of staying silent. Read the Action4Canada weekly email HERE to learn more about this important topic and then share this information.

Six-Part Series in One

Please do not watch this video series in the presence of children.

This video series will walk you through why we need to talk about this issue, how predators groom their victims, what to watch for, and how, by God’s grace, healing is possible for male victims of sexual abuse. Dr. Palfy began her professional career working in adult and youth corrections. It was there that she noticed a disproportionate number of males in the system. After becoming an RCMP officer, she took an interest in investigating sex crimes and went on to specialize in sex crimes committed against children internationally. As she combed through video evidence, she witnessed first-hand the grooming tactics commonly used by sophisticated pedophiles.

More About Our Guest:

After retiring from the RCMP, Dr. Palfy obtained her Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology from the University of Alberta. She conducted her doctoral research on the reasons why males don’t commonly disclose sexual abuse. She is now a trained trauma therapist and public speaker on the topic of male sexual abuse. Dr. Palfy currently runs a small private practice where she works with male survivors of abuse, first responders and couples using Emotion-Focused and Cognitive Behavioral Approach, plus Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). Outside of her professional life she enjoys hiking, cycling, swimming, kayaking, paddle boarding, hanging out with friends and her pets
