In this timely Empower Hour, Action4Canada’s Homeschool Lead, Doris Livingstone, is joined by Duane and Jilene Hay to explain why they believe homeschooling is the best and safest choice for raising confident, well-rounded, and resilient children.

As another school year approaches, many parents are wrestling with one of the most important decisions they will ever make: Who will shape the hearts, minds, values, and worldview of their children? With increasing concerns over ideological influences in many classrooms, growing government intrusion into education, and policies that often undermine parental authority, more families are considering homeschooling as the best option.

For the past twelve years, while operating a successful home business, Duane and Jilene have faithfully homeschooled their four children and will continue through graduation. They will share the convictions that led them to homeschool, the challenges they overcame, and the many blessings they have experienced along the way. Together, they will discuss how homeschooling enables parents to tailor each child’s education to their unique learning style while cultivating strong character, a Biblical worldview, a healthy work ethic, critical thinking skills, meaningful friendships, and close family relationships. They will also address common concerns surrounding socialization, special needs, single-parent homeschooling, post-secondary preparation, overcoming fatigue, and the indispensable role both mothers and fathers play in their children’s education.

Action4Canada’s Homeschool Revolution page also features information about the Home School Legal Defence Association of Canada (HSLDA Canada), a trusted national organization dedicated to protecting and supporting homeschooling families. HSLDA Canada provides members with guidance on provincial homeschooling laws, practical assistance for those getting started, and experienced support to help families confidently navigate their homeschooling journey.

REMINDER: Action4Canada’s annual campaign calling on fathers to accompany their children to school the first week of classes is rapidly approaching. Grandfathers, step-dads, uncles, and other male role models are also encouraged to participate. This is an opportunity to step up, establish clear boundaries, and exercise your God-given responsibility by reminding teachers and principals that parents—not government—have the primary responsibility for their children’s upbringing and education.

During the month of September we are also encouraging everyone to participate in delivering the Non-Government and Special Interest Groups Flag Letter to principals and school boards, as well as distribute the SOGI Flyer to help inform other parents about what their children are being taught and exposed to in the classroom.
