Barry’s principled opposition to SOGI 123 has resulted in significant legal pressure. This included a 2024 defamation judgment against Barry to the order of $53,000 in damages to Carin Bondar. However, the December 1st ruling, granting a $75 monthly payment plan, offered a small yet meaningful relief. He also continues to confront an eight-year human rights complaint from the British Columbia Teachers’ Federation (BCTF), alleging his statements in 2017—calling out the SOGI resource—constitutes hate speech against the LGBTQ+ community, with former BCTF president Glen Hansman (an LGBTQ advocate) serving as a key witness. Hearings concluded earlier this year, with a decision expected in early 2026.

On a positive note, Barry’s stand has not been in vain. This call is not reserved for an ancient people, it is a present summons to proclaim God’s message to all, stirring hearts out of complacency and into spiritual vigilance.

To “wake up the mighty men” is to recognize the authority God has placed within His people and to step boldly into the roles He has assigned. Scripture urges believers to draw near, stand together, and fight side by side, for “a threefold cord is not quickly broken” (Ecclesiastes 4:12). As God raises up a generation prepared for spiritual warfare, we are called to unite, equip ourselves through prayer and Scripture, and take our place in His army. With Christ as our strength and victory, we rise as awakened warriors ready for the battles of our time.
