Action4Canada is once again calling on our members to take action to oppose Bill C-9.
After passing in the House of Commons, the bill has now moved to the Senate—the chamber of “sober second thought.” It has already passed first reading before the Senate adjourned for a two-week break. Senators return on Tuesday, April 14, making this a critical window for Canadians to raise their voices in strong opposition.
Action4Canada has been at the forefront of numerous campaigns and actively raising awareness about Bill C-9, working alongside David Lindsay to highlight the importance of the Coronation Oath and the responsibility of elected officials—including Senators—to uphold it. The Coronation Oath plays a central role in overturning legislation from the past decade that is in violation of Canada’s founding principles rooted in Christian Biblical values, and it must become central to discussions in the House of Commons. These principles, as reflected in the letter below, are not harmful but life-giving—something evidenced in testimonies like Sarah’s, a detransitioner whose life was strengthened and sustained through scripture.
Please take a few minutes to read the letter below and follow the action steps that come after.
Call to Action:
1) Copy and paste the following letter (or write your own) and email it to either all Senators or those representing your province. Email list
How to Copy and Paste.
2) Participate in the coordinated Call Campaign. Contact list of Senators and scripts provided.
3) Also, sign the CitizenGo Petition.
4) Share this campaign widely—email, text, and social media.
Together, we can make a difference—every action counts!
Dear Senator,
I am writing to respectfully but firmly urge you to reject Bill C-9 as it not only has far-reaching consequences for Canada’s foundational freedoms and national identity but also threatens to criminalize scripture by claiming that it is hateful.
Please watch Sarah’s powerful testimony, which provides irrefutable evidence to the contrary. Sarah, a young Canadian woman, was subjected to so-called “gender affirming care” as a teenager. In her early twenties she realized she had been cruelly deceived, permanently disfigured, and robbed of her most sacred and fundamental dignity as a woman—the very essence of her God-given femininity, beauty, and identity. Sarah struggled with depression and suicidal thoughts which were impacted further when she realized she had been abandoned by the very government, medical industry and LGBTQ activists who had lured her down the ‘transgender’ path. It was Scripture that saved Sarah, giving her the courage and comfort needed to carry on. Sarah’s experience demonstrates that Scripture is helpful not hateful. It underscores the power of Scripture to heal.
Scripture is a source of hope, moral clarity, and truth for millions of Canadians.
Scripture addresses the fundamental questions of life, identity, and human conduct—including the sanctity of life from conception to natural death, the biological reality of male and female, and the importance of personal accountability, repentance, and spiritual transformation. These are not fringe views; they are core beliefs that have shaped individuals, families, and societies across generations. The freedom to express, preach, and practise these beliefs—without fear—must not be interfered with.
Bill C-9 threatens the very fabric of Canadian society. At stake is the freedom to speak, teach, and live in accordance with sincerely held beliefs that are rooted in Scripture.
Canada was founded on Judeo-Christian Biblical principles. Inherited through our British Commonwealth and embedded in the Magna Carta these principles inform our laws and our values. The preamble to the Constitution Act, 1867, as reflected in the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms, states: “Whereas Canada is founded upon principles that recognize the Supremacy of God and the Rule of Law.” These are not empty words—they are the moral and philosophical framework through which the Charter itself is to be interpreted. Furthermore, the Coronation Oath—enshrined in law—embodies a heritage grounded in Protestant faith and Biblical principles that the Senate is duty bound to uphold. Canada’s national identity has always recognized God, moral truth, and the rule of law as pillars of its free and collaborative society. Canada’s strength lies not in suppressing difficult conversations but in allowing them to take place openly and respectfully, especially when perspectives differ. The right of individuals to speak truth as they understand it, to share their beliefs, and to seek guidance aligned with their values must be protected. Bill C-9 could have a chilling effect where Canadians may self-censor regarding their deeply held faith-based beliefs. This would undermine freedom of religion, expression, and conscience—cornerstones of a democratic nation.
Therefore, I respectfully ask that you:
- Reject Bill C-9 in light of the detrimental consequences;
- Defend freedom of conscience, religion, and expression for all Canadians; and
- Uphold Canada’s founding principles; or
- At the very least, amend Bill C-9 to maintain the good-faith religious defence clause.
Thank you for your time, your service, and your sober second thought.
Sincerely,
