We’ve achieved a precedent-setting win in Calgary against the Climate Change propaganda machine! But further action is required. The original Call to Action was sent to Alberta A4C members and now it’s time to go Canada-wide. Whether you live in Alberta or elsewhere, please take a few minutes to participate in this action. Thank Calgary’s Mayor and Council for making Canadian history.

But first, a heartfelt thank you to everyone who responded to the Call to Action in support of Calgary City Councillors Landon Johnston and Andre Chabot. Their motion to rescind Calgary’s Climate Emergency Declaration—adopted in 2021 to advance the City’s climate agenda—passed with a vote of 10 to 5, making Calgary the first major municipality in Canada to reverse such a declaration.

This is more than a local victory. It is a precedent-setting win that can inspire municipalities across Canada to challenge costly climate policies and return to practical, common-sense governance. While Calgary’s declared “emergency” has ended, the climate war is not over as the city remains committed to the Calgary Climate Strategy: Pathways to 2050, which is embedded into all official decision-making, and continues to funnel $100’s of millions into useless emissions reduction schemes, while neglecting critical infrastructure.

This victory proves that citizen engagement can influence municipal policy. Rescinding the Climate Emergency Declaration was a major step forward, but we will not stop until Calgary’s costly Climate Strategy is also abandoned. Action4Canada continues to deliver results. Please consider financially supporting A4C as we continue to effectively equip and mobilize citizens. We also cannot achieve these wins without your participation and commitment to our campaigns defending faith, family, and freedom. Thank you!

Attn: Mayor Jeromy Farkas and Councillors who voted to rescind the Climate Emergency Declaration (Councillors Johnston, Chabot, and all who supported the 10-5 vote),

Subject: Thank You for Rescinding the Climate Emergency Declaration – Now Scrap Pathways to 2050

PLEASE MAKE THIS COMMUNICATION A MATTER OF PUBLIC RECORD

Thank you for your leadership in passing the motion to rescind the 2021 Climate Emergency Declaration. This historic first in Canada demonstrates that practical, evidence-based governance can prevail over symbolic politics.

While this decision is a significant step forward, important work remains. The underlying Calgary Climate Strategy: Pathways to 2050—built on discredited and “implausible” RCP 8.5 extreme scenarios—remains embedded in city decision-making. The City continues to pour hundreds of millions into emissions-reduction initiatives and related plans (such as the Water Efficiency Plan) while critical infrastructure has been neglected.

The City is currently using only approximately 43% of its licensed water capacity while an estimated 22% of treated water is lost through leakage. This fact alone demonstrates where Council’s priorities should lie. Funds allocated for smart water meters, expanded monitoring systems, and related climate initiatives must be immediately redirected to repairing and upgrading critical infrastructure. Calgarians should not be asked to pay more, use less, and accept additional oversight while significant water losses continue through aging and neglected infrastructure.

Residents are facing such water restrictions and rising costs at a time when Canada is entering a recession and families are struggling to make ends meet.

We respectfully request that you now take the next decisive steps:

  • Fully scrap the Pathways to 2050 plan and associated Agenda 2030-aligned initiatives.
  • Redirect all related funding—including smart meter expenditures—to priority infrastructure repairs.
  • Initiate a comprehensive value-for-money audit of all past climate-related spending, including operational and capital expenditures tied to the declaration and broader climate policies. The limited online spending disclosure introduced following the vote falls far short of the thorough, independent audit required to ensure accountability for the expenditure of taxpayer dollars.

Calgarians deserve fiscally responsible leadership that puts people first—not ideological agendas that burden taxpayers with costly and unattainable net-zero targets. Your continued courage on this file will set a strong precedent for municipalities across Canada.

We look forward to your action on this important matter and stand ready to support practical solutions that protect both our environment and our economy.

Sincerely,
