He Is Risen! He Is Risen Indeed!
As Resurrection Sunday approaches, the stillness of winter darkness has passed and gives way to the sunny warmth of spring. Like the first green shoots breaking through the soil towards the light, humanity searches for meaning. We cannot escape this search any more than we can escape the cycles of nature. For Christians, our search culminates with the words of Jesus Christ on the cross…
“It is finished”
The life, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ was foretold in over 300 Biblical prophecies for thousands of years. His personal ministry on Earth lasted only three years, yet Jesus Christ remains the most influential, pivotal, consequential figure in the history of the world. His resurrection is the central event in Christianity.
Each year on Resurrection Sunday, Christians celebrate the fulfillment of God’s redemptive plan for all humanity. When Jesus died on the cross for the sins of the world and then conquered death by rising from His grave three days later, God gave each one of us the opportunity to confess our sin and choose reconciliation with Himself through a personal relationship with Jesus. This choice is the narrow path to profound peace in this world and eternal life thereafter.
The Triumph of Jesus’ Resurrection
In this fallen world we can be easily distracted, losing our way until we are left in the darkness of an empty life. Jesus is the Light of the World and when we focus on the empty tomb we are brought into the brilliance of His saving grace which fills us with the Holy Spirit who guides our way.
On Resurrection Sunday and always, Christians thank God for the fulfilment of prophecy, the blessing of peace and the assurance of eternal salvation found only in Our Lord Jesus Christ. May you turn your search away from the troubles of this world and towards Jesus to find peace for your soul.
