CALL TO ACTION: Minister Nahanni Fontaine Must Resign.
On September 10, 2025, Charlie Kirk—a respected conservative voice and Christian apologist—was brutally assassinated while speaking at Utah Valley University. Just days later, Manitoba’s Minister of Families, Nahanni Fontaine, chose to repost a disparaging message about him. For a Cabinet Minister to respond to such a tragedy with mockery is appalling, dishonors a murdered man, and disrespects the values Manitobans hold dear.
This is not an isolated lapse in judgment. Minister Fontaine has a pattern of making divisive, inflammatory comments that incite hostility and erode public trust. Her role demands professionalism and respect for all Manitobans, yet she has repeatedly injected personal ideology into a position meant to serve the entire community. She has lost the trust of the people and must step aside.

It’s time to hold our leaders accountable. Stand for integrity. Stand against hate.
Dear Premier Kinew,
Subject: Public Comments by Minister Nahanni Fontaine Regarding the Assassination of Charlie Kirk
I am writing to express my deep concern regarding Minister Nahanni Fontaine’s recent public comments following the assassination of Charlie Kirk on September 10, 2025. For a cabinet minister to respond to the brutal murder of a respected public figure with disparaging remarks is both appalling and profoundly inappropriate. Such conduct dishonors a man who was killed for standing firm in his beliefs and falls far below the standard of leadership expected of those in your Cabinet.
While every Canadian is entitled to freedom of expression, a Minister of the Crown bears a higher responsibility. Minister Fontaine’s comments appear to contravene the Criminal Code, s. 319, which prohibits the willful promotion of hatred against identifiable groups. Regardless of whether charges are pursued, her words crossed a clear line of professionalism and public trust. As an elected official, she is not above the law and must be held to account.
This is not an isolated incident. Ms. Fontaine has repeatedly used her public platform to post divisive, inflammatory statements that demean others and provoke hostility. Even her subsequent apology only underscored the recklessness of her original remarks. By her own oft-quoted standard — “when someone shows you who they are, believe them” — Manitobans must now believe her.
Minister Fontaine’s pattern of behavior reflects a misuse of her position. Instead of serving the community with impartiality and respect, she has injected personal ideology into her role in a way that divides, rather than unites. Such conduct erodes confidence in government and disrespects the very people she was appointed to serve.
Therefore, I respectfully call on you to take immediate action: dismiss Minister Nahanni Fontaine from Cabinet and call on her to resign her seat as MLA. Manitobans deserve leadership that demonstrates professionalism, integrity, and a commitment to the well-being of all citizens — not rhetoric that incites division and hate.
Respectfully,
[Your Name].
