Hark the Herald Angels Sing is a classic Christmas carol. The original version was written as a “Hymn for Christmas Day”.

“Hail, the heav’n-born Prince of Peace! Hail, the Sun of Righteousness! Light and life to all He brings, Risen with healing in His wings. Mild He lays His glory by, Born that we no more may die, Born to raise the sons of earth, Born to give them second birth. Hark! the herald angels sing, “Glory to the newborn King.”

The carol is based on Luke 2:14 and tells of an angelic chorus singing praises to God, in response to the announcement of the birth of Jesus. “Glory to God in the highest, And on earth peace, goodwill toward men!

Let us rejoice greatly as we celebrate the birth of Jesus (Mighty God, Prince of Peace and Wonderful Counsellor) who came to seek and to save the lost.
