Even in the challenging and uncertain times we face today, we have much to be thankful for.

We are so very grateful for our family and friends. They are one of the greatest gifts God gives us. Through every season of life, in our joys and in our trials, friends and family bring us love, support, strength and comfort. Thanksgiving is the perfect opportunity to let our loved ones know how much we appreciate them.

We are also grateful for our forefathers who fought and died to preserve the freedoms we still enjoy today. The original Royal Canadian Air Force motto reflects that resolve: “Per Ardua Ad Astra” (Through Adversity to the Stars), and speaks to the challenges we face. As our forefathers rose to the defend our freedoms, today we carry forward their vision. We too rise “Through Adversity to the Stars” to defend our Canadian Constitution and Charter of Rights and Freedoms and preserve our nation for the precious generations that follow us.

The greatest blessing of all is God’s grace. Thanksgiving is sweeter when we remember God’s faithfulness, from the daily blessings in our lives to the everlasting victory over death that Christ has won.

We know that for some, strained relationships, loss and life’s hardships can make Thanksgiving difficult. If you are feeling alone or helpless, we pray that you will find comfort in God’s love and discover one small blessing to be thankful for today.

“The Lord is my strength and my shield.
