Our first Call to Action made waves—Canadians spoke out, and MPs took notice. One Liberal MP, Doug Eyolfson (Winnipeg West), responded by insisting “the government has never considered removing charitable status,” dismissing Finance Committee’s Recommendations 429 & 430 as merely “advisory.”
But we know better. This is the Liberal’s playbook: deny, stall, then legislate against the will of Canadians. They did it with the expansion of MAiD, Bill C-11 (online censorship), Bill C-16 (allowing biological men into women’s and children’s private spaces), and Bill C-4 (criminalizing parents and pastors who don’t affirm gender ideology).
The Liberals have been undermining the foundation of our nation for over a decade, and Christians and the Church have borne the brunt. Under Trudeau, faith communities have been vilified, stripped of protections, and even burned to the ground while government leaders stood silent, and Mark Carney appears to be continuing this trend.
Recommendations 429 & 430 are not harmless suggestions—they are the latest assault in a long campaign to weaken and dismantle faith in Canada. What do the Liberals have to gain from revoking charitable status? Churches who refuse to comply with their harmful ideologies will be forced to hand over ‘all’ of their assets: land, buildings, and cash.

Re: A Public Statement from the PM’s office to Reject Pre-budget Recommendations 429 & 430
I am writing to demand that you immediately and publicly reject Recommendations 429 and 430 from the December 2024 Finance Committee report, which call for the removal of charitable status from faith-based organizations.
One of your MPs, Doug Eyolfson, recently responded to Canadians by claiming that “the government has never considered removing charitable status”. Come again? The Liberals hold the majority of seats on the Finance Committee—the very committee that issued these recommendations. Eyolfson went further, brushing them off as merely “advisory.” With respect, Canadians have heard this before. The Liberal government has a long record of dismissing concerns, only to later legislate against the will of the people. We saw it with the expansion of MAiD, with Bill C-11 (online censorship), with Bill C-16 (the bathroom bill), and with Bill C-4 (which criminalizes parents, pastors, and counselors who refuse to affirm gender ideology).
The pattern is clear: deny first, legislate later. Canadians are not reassured by vague assurances.
Canada is a Christian nation. The charitable status of churches and faith-based organizations is foundational to Canada’s social fabric. These institutions provide critical services to the vulnerable, support families, and strengthen communities. To even entertain the removal of their charitable status is an attack on faith, freedom, and civil society itself.
As Prime Minister, you must make a clear public commitment that your government will reject Recommendations 429 and 430. Silence is not an option. Canadians deserve transparency and accountability.
We are watching closely. This is your opportunity to prove that your government stands with people of faith and will not allow ideology to dismantle the good work of churches across this nation.
