Thanksgiving is the perfect time to stop and reflect on the many blessings in our lives. Despite the condition of the world around us we can find peace in the midst of it all when we take time to be grateful for our family and friends, as well as for all the little things. The following Thanksgiving poem, in the form of a prayer, highlights the blessings of gratitude and invites us to join in grateful chorus.

For each new morning with its light,
For rest and shelter of the night,
For health and food,
For love and friends,
For everything Thy goodness sends.
For flowers that bloom about our feet;
For tender grass, so fresh, so sweet;
For song of bird, and hum of bee;
For all the things fair we hear or see,
Father in heaven, we thank Thee.
~ Ralph Waldo Emerson

Did you know that Thanksgiving dinner was established in 1620 but Prayers of Thanksgiving had been common long before then? The Pilgrims looked to the Bible to declare gratitude and to thank God for their first harvest. They knew that God was with them and they had much to be thankful for, despite their circumstances. We can always give thanks for God’s mercy and grace in our lives.

From the team at Action4Canada we want to let you know how thankful we are for your support and friendship and wish you and your loved ones a Blessed and Happy Thanksgiving!

God bless you and God bless Canada!
